Sweet  Friendship

As published by the International library of Poetry

Since the dawn of time folks put to rhyme

Their thoughts and aspirations;

Love drives them on to write a song

Of poetic illustrations.

So on that note, please let me tout
While I thank you for your friendship
For friends like you are precious few
and the times we had were splendid

Now you can bet I'll not forget
The hours that we have shared;
On future days when miles away,
I'll remember how you cared.

So Maggie dear I'll make it clear
Life isn't always pleasant,
But sorrows waned and sunshine came
Whenever "you" were present.

If times get tough and life is rough,
You’ll need people to depend on;
So God and I are standing by
When you need a friend to lean on.

"Sweet Friendship" describes the foundation for love. It was composed for "My Maggie," the woman who would become my beloved wife. I learned the truth that "great friends make great marriages" from a friend who is out of this world! When I met the Son of God some twenty-five years ago, a friendship began as a result of my submission to Him. Over the years, Jesus grew to be my best friend. He taught me what true friendship means and demonstrated a depth of love that transcends any that I have known on this Earth.
